I know we said we weren't setting a date yet. But, things change.
We've decided to get married in Ogunquit, Maine on June 23, 2007. I have a co-worker who got married there, and she had brought in her pictures to show in the office a couple of months ago. It just looked perfect- simple, small, beside the ocean in a beautiful location along the Marginal Way, a place we'd been to several times last summer and loved.
So I emailed the Ogunquit Town Clerk about a week ago and asked how the process worked. And we discussed it. Eric has family vacationing in the area at the same time. We're going ahead with it.
It'll be a civil ceremony; family only, very simple. It's not going to be A Wedding- we're just going to get married. And go for lunch afterwards.
So to the family: wear comfortable shoes. You'll need to walk a little to get to the right spot, but we'll try to keep it close to Perkins Cove. And if it rains- wear your slicker and bring an umbrella. There is no Plan B.

Details
For the curious: the ring is a 3-carat oval sapphire with diamond baguettes on the sides, in white gold. I picked it out, but wasn't sure exactly when I would get it. I didn't want a diamond, and this is my birthstone. I had looked at other stones, like amethyst and garnet (his birthstone) and tanzanite, but he wanted a "traditional" precious gem.
Thank you to everyone who's wished us well.

It's official

We are engaged.
Timeline: first email Feb 06, first phone call mid April, first date April 30. Second date the next weekend, and every weekend after that, until I moved into the Worcester apartment sometime in July. We kept lengthening the weekends until I was only staying at LaSalle St long enough to do laundry; it seemed silly to be apart at all by then. In the meantime, my daughter's graduation, his Mom's birthday; a trip to Colorado, and to Maine; then the big family holidays and New Years Eve before we knew it. 2007 promises to be the best year ever for both of us.
No date set. We will decide that later; right now we're just enjoying the glow.
